odometer/trip odometer quit

Hey everyone, newbie here.
The odometer quit this week and the trip odometer quit this afternoon on my '93 Maxima. It will still show what speed you are going with the needle, but doesn't register any miles. Can someone tell me what the problem could be or where to look?
I tried the search function and the FAQs but I think I haven't been totally activated yet. It won't let me search. I just register a few minutes ago.

Thanks in advance,
James Lowery

Goofy stuff, with my tripometer, it would register miles just fine, but it wouldn't reset. The numbers would just "hop" when you pressed the needle.

Then one day, it began to work fine again. Maybe your Maxima will self-repair like mine. But I wouldn't count on it.

mine self-repairs as floods says. when i reset it, at times it quits. then begins working again randomly. i probably have ten thousand extra miles on my car that never showed up.
