Electrical Problem

Hey guys. I have an electrical problem and since I know nothing about what to do I figured I would post here to see if anyone has any clue what it sounds like.

Okay, My car will not start. I put the key in the ignition and turn and it makes this rapid clicking noise. Ya know, click click click click click.

My radio and clock have reset and I barely had enough power to let my windows up or even use the keypads to open my doors this afternoon. The auto seat belt will not even move along the track.

All of the indicator lights in the dashboard light up as usual, but I cannot get the car started.

Is this a battery, alternator, or starter problem?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

It is charging now, but do you have any idea of the bigger problem?

Just let it charge and then put the key in and start. Did you leave a door open, stereo on, etc?

Nope, it was just dead. I hope it is not the starter. Battery is under warranty, so it can be replaced for free.

sounds like the battery, but throw us some details. How old is the battery? Age of car? miles? any trouble before?
Otherwise sounds like a dead battery. Autozone can do a alt/starter/battery check.

Def dead battery. That clicking sound is the starter solenoid trying to fire the engaging pinion onto the flywheel.
Get an alternator test to make sure that's charging right.

Batteries usually die because there's not enough water in the cells for the battery to hold its charge. In summer, the water will evaporate over time & then in winter the plates fail - esp if the car's been outside & it gets really cold.

Remember, even low maintenance & maintenance-free batteries need the water levels checked when you the 6 monthly service.
