Dash Clock

Ok I know there is a how to somewhere with in the org of how to fix it so it doesnt dimm. But want to know if any of you guys replaced that with something else (switchs, buttons?) I mean i know its way too small for a screen. Anyone have any creative ideas for this spot besides this dam clock that I have to beat the hell out of it to stay bright?
