Car wont turn off, need help.

I have a 91 maxima 5 speed, and when I try to turn off the car it just keeps running. All the accessories turn off like my radio and AC but The engine keeps on going just like the keyu is in. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be?

How did you check it? For some reason, the power to the ignition system is staying on. Also apparently the power to the fuel pump is staying on also. These two facts seem to support something that controls both. Unless you mean it's dieseling(running but very rough)

No not dieseling it runs great just cant shut off, I checked the switch with a muti meter in all positions with the key and it checked out fine. Do these cars have a relay or some sort of control box for the ignition?

That doesn't tell me anything about if the ign switch is okay. If you cut the power, of course the engine is going to stop.

If not the switch, maybe the ign relay is sticking? Try swapping it with another one of the same color.

I'd wonder about a worn out ignition switch. Or a short powering up the ignition wires. Nothing else electrical running besides the engine? i.e. radiator fans, interior fans, etc? Start looking at all the wires for shorts-engine to ignition switch

I removed the bottom blue relay from the relays by the fuse panel under the driver dash, and it works fine now it shuts off and everything works . What does that relay do?
