What Made My Car Stop??

And How Can I Make It Start Up???

Answer These Two Questions Please....

Ok, I Was Riding Down The Street With A Fresh Tank Of Gas (WHICH I THINK IS BAD)... And My Car Cut Off!!! I Got It Towed Home And I Tried Replacing The Distributor Cap, The Distributor, The Ignition Coil.. And I Checked All The Fuses...

My Car Still Wouldnt Start... I Checked The Ecu Codes And They Came Up As 13 And 34..... Cylinder Head Temp Sensor And Knock Sensor.

Can These Two Things Make My Car Shut Off In The Middle Of The Street?
Do I Have Bad Gas.. Which Is Giving Me The 34 Code?

I Have An 89 Maxima Se With 170k

here's a question for you:
when was the last time the timing belt was replaced?

then there is a fair chance the belt is gone.
which would explain the no start condition and the engine dying.

chant: timing belt timing belt timing belt i am about to buy a maxima for parts maybe we can work out a deal and get you an engine unless you got extremely lucky and your valves arent bent check for compression bro or have a mechanic take the timeing cover off and see if you have a belt left... good luck man i have been in the same postion and i had to yank my engine out buy another one find out it had the same problem then go spend 675 on one from green leaf auto recylers with a warranty sucks but if you love your max youll go any extent to have it run......... best of luck

unless you are doing the work yourself, or have a VERY cheap mechanic doing it for you, the value realy isn't there to doing a motor swap.

Take the timing cover off, u may be able to just onbolt the top and peak in there to see if its there i would push on it to to make sure that its tight or turn the key and see if it moves the reason that u cant just replace the belt is cuz when the belt breaks the valves stop moving and they are in coordination with the pistons when the pistin is down the valves come down when the piston is up the valves com up if u break that belt the valves stop moving and the pistons keep goiing and crash they bent valves crack pistons so if the belt did break and the motor is turning over there about a 99.9 percent chance that u smashed the valves into the pistins. If its not that then the little midget running inside the engine just got tired and took the week off!!!

You do realize that the engine will turn all day and the T-belt could still be broken

Take off the dist cap and see if the rotor moves when you turn the engine over. If no move = broken t-belt. If it moves = t-belt is probably okay.

I could be wrong though. I can't remember if the dist is belt driven or not.
