need help bad smell
hey guys i got my 90 back from he tranny shop i can finally shift again ut any how i forgot about this and ws wanting to know why my car always gas a real strong gass smell someone said it was my evap thing for gas or wahtver can any one point me in the right direction for a solution thanks

THE EVAP CANISTER IS A BLACK CANISTER THAT THE VACUUM LINES FEED TO.ITS ON THE FIREWALL, I THINK ITS THE LEFT SIDE.ANYWAY CHECK UR FUEL LINES FOR LEAKAGE BY TOUCHING THEM AND MAKE SURE THE FUEL FILTER IS CONNECTED TIGHTLY.U DONT WANT TO WAIT 2 LONG CAUSE THIS CAN CAUSE A FIRE
..FOLLOW UR NOSE..I WOULD CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER REGARDLESS JUST TO MAKE SURE.

i can only realy smell it when i drive it i had all teh lines chacked and it isnt leakin the only thing i can thins of is the canister is full thats what my chiltons said can i disconnect it or block f or somthing there isnt a storng gas smell unde rthe hood i changed the fuel filetr already too.
have you changed your fuel injectors o rings(12 total), fuel rail insulators (6 total), and the rubber hoses between the 2 rails beside the other hoses that were accessible? Those parts just mentioned take on a lot more abuses than parts that were far away from the engine.
btw, I had the same problems too with the leaky gases smell in the past until recently I tore everything apart this past 2 weekends, melted all pollutions (up to 4mm thick at some spots) from the manifold, runner, etc. Changed all flexible fuel lines, fuel injector insulators, and o rings. Rebuilt all 6 of my injectors at www.witchhunter.com. So far, the gases smell seems to have gone away but my darn gas mileage is still terrible as hell due to a clogged egr valve and its passage. Anyway, when I changed my fuel lines the rubber hoses didn't seems like they were all bads but my orings were all busted and the 6 insulators were semi cracked.

what is bad mileage in ur standards?im trying to calculate mines.i figure that i should be getting over 250 per tank..is that good?so far ive gotten 101 from half a tank.no mods just an intake,u ever try to remove the canister?
i dont get bad milage my injectors and hoses are all new its a new engine. it smelled before i had a new engine dropped in it so it had to be somehitng else i replaced all my fuel lines in teh rear and the fuel pump seal on the tank so i dunno what ese it could be i dont see any seaping of gas on the injectors or anything i replaced some flexible gas lines today and it is still there when it is running i cant smell it under the hood or anytrhing i only smel it when i drive the fumes coem in from the e brake handle along with heat and other things when the windows are down but if the windows are up and ac is on then i can smell it so it has somethign to do with the wind bringing it into my car whiel driving with the windows down but klike i said it isnt loosing gas i just get a harsh fume smell dont knwo if this helps......

Make : NISSAN Model : MAXIMA Year : 1994

ok i have been sniffing arond my car litterally and have noticed the smell is comming from the rear of the car and it is noticable in my trunk. does any one have an idea of what it is now. i am i florida and my car came form n.c but i dont know what state before that so i dont know if it is included in the recall ive checked all my gas lines and none were cracked but should i replace them any way. could it be my tank????
well i have contacted the old owner of my car and he said he noticed for some time the car emitted a gas smell and when he filled the tank it used to leak when all the way full. well it still does. i filled it up for the first time since it came back form the shop and it leaked just like when i got it and it still leaks even after my mechanic dropped the tank and checked it out. the only thing we can think of is the filler tube has a rot where we didnt see and that would be emitting hte gas smell and causeing it to leak when full does any one else think this is logical? INTERNETAUTOMART do you sell filler hoses for a 90 maxima se?? any help appreciated thanks
sorry, no filler hoses from me.
it could also be the o'ring for the pump
