Does anyone know transmission capacity
I just changed the cV boots and had to drain the tranny. The Chilton book says the capacity for refilling is 15.5 pints. I put in two quqrts qnd it is full. Am I missing something, or did I misunderstand the book. Does anyone know the amount? Thanks for any help.
hmm..you pulled the axle out and got a bath of ATF right?
15.5 pints is 7.75 quarts. basically it's a refill when it's being rebuilt or pulled apart.
drain and fill is about 3-4 (ball park).
if you didn't pull the drain plug then figure 2ish should be right. always check..there's a dipstick for a reason.

I used the dip stick, that's why I stopped. I drained the transmission, and pulled the axles, luckily, I had people in the ORG give me good advice. When I put it back together, it only took two quarts. That filled it just right on the dip stick. Does it retain a lot in the transmission when you use the drain plug? Do you have to take the pan off to fully drain it?

"Automatic transmission: If the transmission does not shift properly until warmed up, make sure it is filled only with Nissanmatic "C" transmission fluid. (all)"
I checked with the dealer for this soo called Nissanmatic "C" transmission fluid but they have no clue what it is. I use the dealer recommended transmission fliud and it does not shift properly until warmed up.... so what kind of tranny fluid do you guys recommend for a 89 transimisson?
