Wing and aerodynamics
What is this? Attack of the noobs?
As long as you stay out of my slow lane when you are flying by for some strange reason at 140, I dont care what you you do. It's your car, your life, etc. I couldn't care less. Just post up a picture of yourself getting cuffed and thrown into the backseat of a cop car when you get caught going 140 on a public road so we can all laugh at you.

teh KLoWn has shown me the light of the slow lane. Not only do you not get tickets, you also get great mileage!!!!

thats why I like to ride in your car
. I dont know how to drive like you and Matt

Now whether you said "everyone go out and do it" or not, that's what it implies. hang around long enough to see a "what's your top speed?" thread on here, and you'll see exactly where I'm doing. a bunch of 17 yr old punks in stock Maximas trying to take pictures of themselves going faster than the other guy.. It's not only stupid on their part, but it's stupid on the poster- for egging it on. Whether you specifically said so or not, you're condoning it by posting it on a public forum.
As for the part about the car can handle it, that by no means says it's capable of it in a safe manner.. the brakes are WAY too small for this car to be doing 120+. you can maybe get one stop from that speed before the brakes are completely heat saturated and fading.. How do I know? I've done it quite a few times myself and spent many hours on the track with this car. I know the limitations of it better than 99% of the people here.. I also have a VERY highly modified suspension (which I'm not talking about because I hate getting emails asking what I'd done and how to do it on their car for under $500.). Being "professionally installed" means nothing. the grease monkey at Jiffy Lube on the corner is a "professional", but there's no way in Hades I'll let him work on my car, let alone something as vital as the suspension. Of course that's an exxageration- there are many many highly qualified suspension shops out there. but I highly doubt you've got a suspension that will allow you to swerve around Grandpa at 120 when he cuts you off... or when that deer runs out in front of you. When I'm pulling into a corner at Texas World Speedway at 115mph, I have to be VERY careful with the steering wheel not to wind up going backwards with both feet in. the car gets very twitchy at those speeds and has very little grip.
don't take this personally. I didn't pick you to flame just because you're you. I reponded to the attitude of "I'm better than everyone else becuase my car is modified and I drive this fast all the time and I know how to drive".. No, you're not-- unless you've spent a LOT of time on the track. You'd be amazed how many of those Grandpas and soccer moms you flew by have a race car in the garage. Some of the best local drivers are 60+ year old men and a few 40 & 50-something women.. who hold national SCCA Champion titles... Yet you look at them and think they're the stupid ones.
I'll shut up now, but I just want you to see the point. there's a lot of 'kids' on the board that will see posts like yours and come to the conclusion that a Maxima with springs, struts and 17s w/ Axxis pads is a race car made for high speed driving. It's nowhere near the case.

the only thing my wing does is make swirly patterns of the morning dew in my rear view mirror. condensation that i cann't GET RID OF BECAUSE MY DAMN REAR DEFROST DOESN'T work, blocking my view...can this be fixed? why can't it without replacing the window? Oh, yes we were discussing downforce. at 140, it might...at most freeway speeds and even track speeds less air disturbance seems the better choice. doesn't look as cool tho'!!
how about this
at 140 I'd be more worried about rough pavement than I would the FOAM spoiler on my car.
I guess it does work though, after all, alot of people gripe about it LIFTING UP.
kekekeke!!!111//oneoneone

i will admit, i tend to do 80-90 crusing speed around town, that was before yesturday when i heard teh 1st person in my graduating class (less than a month ago) is already going to jail.... and guess what for!!! doing 104 (yes just 104 not 140) into the side of a 40 year old mother and killing her. and this was late at night around 2:30 am and in an Audi TT and the reason he hit her is that he couldnt stop for a red light.... and my guess is that audi TTs have better braking system then our maximas. so go ahead and speed i dont mean to lecture you not to, but if you get caught send me a picture of you in jail
For my $ .02...
I've gotten my Max a little over 120 on (Gandy Bridge) a long, four-lane straight bridge, that's well lit, and I could see pretty much all the way infront of me when I went over the "hump", and it was a clear straight-way with absolutley no one, since it was about 3am. I would never, ever do this during the daytime, in any sort of traffic. I just wanted a safe place to do a little test-run for the cone filter I put on. Unmodded suspension is like jello at that speed, and I don't even want to think about the brake distances.
My engine was running at about 4,000 or so rpm, so I'm confident it can probably make it over 135 or so, but I'm not going to try.
Oh, and about the wing...how about getting a 40 inch T-tail, with a rudder and elevators so you can really compensate for side-to-side drift, and downforce...or....upforce. Hell, pull up and the front of your car will be in the air, how's that for a thrill, all you guys that love going 140+!

For those guys that do 100 - 140mph on public roads & think the risk is okay, grow up. Esp the loser who does it at night - that's more stupid than during the day. Road kill will throw your car off the road at those speeds & you don't see road kill at night. Keep doing that & please, go & play russian roulette with your handgun (a numbnut like you is just bound to have a firearm).
Guys that race on the track won't do the same on public roads - on the track you have much better control over your environment whereas on public roads you have too many variables to deal with.
So, mod your suspension, upgrade the brakes & tires, get a racing drivers license, take your car to a track & drive at high speeds. Never post how you drive that fast on a public road on a public forum. End of story.

The way I'm going to set it up is with the light inside the rear windshield, of course. The wing is not rice, and if you define rice for me I may concede. Besides, it will go in combo with r33 taillights.

Me, I like the deck-lid wing that comes with our cars as it's stylish without shouting "look at me". I'm more into the sleeper look - I like to surprise people - but that's my preference.
Sounds like you want your ride to be noticed & that's cool - good to hear you won't put the hi-stop light on the trunk!

BTW the reason they have it like that is so you can replace your factory wing without filling or painting. See there are 5 holes under that piece. 4 for the wing adn 1 for the 3rd brake light wire. My guess is that piece uses the 5 holes and covers them up so you dont have to weld them up.
I dont like the look but its a pretty good option if you dont want to weld up your trunk lid.

I'm really not an attention ***** on the streets, I just wasn't able to find a better one that will help with the downforce and at the same time look ok. Moreover, I was planning on having the trunk shaved, drive without a wing for a while to see if any downforce is really needed, and if it's aesthetically appealing at all.
I'm still having a really tough time believing any of these do anything significant.
anywho, if you really want one, just buy Michaels, it looks better and is a good deal, plus he could use the money. I would if I could. Besides, I want to see his car painted

I like the wing probably because of the brakelight. It's rather odd looking. It doesn't look too ricey to me. Atleast he's not going to buy one of the 89" APC Aluminum wings. Figure that atleast one org-er has a peice of rice in their car. The bowl is full of it and he's grabbing just a grain. I feel this way probably because I saw a black max with that wing today. I'm having second thoughts now. This is the site that sells a similar type of wing here
