i saw a bmw 3series today parked outside my building. it had what seemed to be a sunroof that took up the entire roof pretty much. it was covered by some black material that looked like the type of material they use on carrage tops. it definitly wasnt stock. it was very professional looking. it also looked like it was seeled very well so no water would get in. unlike those cheezy rag top things people have. has anyone ever seen this before. i want it!

yup, a camera would be helpful, but you said its not like the rag tops that people have done, is it just a cover or does it actually retract?

The roof is stock.

Excerp from The 318ti FAQ
"Originally only made with a solid roof, in 1996 a "California" model with a large canvas sunroof was introduced. Since then the separate "California" model has been discontinued, but the canvas roof is still an option on all 1997 ti's."
