bogging problem on 90 SE +1 more

ok here is what she is doin:

when i am driving down the street (not all the time but usually does it often) my car will be crusing fine then all the sudden it bogs out i can hear the air being sucked but the engine looses all power so i shift it to neutral( its 5 speed) then rev it a few times and it is ok or it will bog a littel bit then gain power back but not if i dont shift it into neutral then itll just bog down all the way. does any one have any idea what this is?? i ahve changed the MAF out thinking that may have had something to do with it and it mad a little differenct but it still does it. does this sound like a sensor problem? maybe o2 sensor i was thinking that but dont want to waste the money on one if it isnt. car has had full tune up cap wires plugs rotor. OK now for the secong problem when my windows are down i can feel heat and smell fumes come in through where the E brake handle is but if i roll the windows up the heat stops coming in it is like pressure in the car has somthign to do with it. i dunno i ahev taken out the center console and could not see any thign that may contribute to it. if any one can help me with this i would be in debt to you thanks

when the last time you change the oil? what grade gasoline do you use? 87, 89, 93? It couldnt have been MAF because if that was bad your car would problaly would have die right after you start it. as for the fumes and heat that might be your exhaust might have a small leak right under the ebrake area that might heating up the floor, or could be a cloaked catylic converter.

my oil was just changed 2 weeks ago i use 89 octane and i have a full exaust system thats brand new(less then 6 motnths old) with no cat just 2.5 inch pipe all the way from the warpspeed y pipe back to the muffler. i had this exaust on my 89 and it didnt premote any heat into the car and i just unbolted it and bolted it onto my 90 my old MAF made the car bog around 2500 rpm and now thta it has been changed it doesnt do it just does the occasional bug i was mentioning. any ideas with that info being thrown in??? thanks

theres no leaks took it to the muffler shop yesterday. it only lets the heat come in through the shifter panel if the windows are down. if they are up it doesnt come in. i guess its a mystery. i have changed my maf so it couldnt be that. my mechanic said that my o2 may be bad which is problay true because every once and a while my ENG CONT fuse will blow just like another fellow. org member's was and he changed his o2 and it stopped. i am trying to find out if that is the problem with the bogging because that is more of a concern to me then the fuse blowing once a month. could it be bogging because of the o2 making the computer have it run lean or rich or somthing. let me know what you guys think thanks

I had the same problem, i changed my o2 the other day. for the same reasons. I bleieve it has something to do with injectors, or my acc isn't set correctly.

For the heat, could it be that ur pipes are 2 close?hard to cause u dont have a leak.wont their be a cover around that area for that?their should be at least a heat shield to prevent that.

the pipes are pretty low. there is a heat sheild aabout 12-14 inches long. it only lets heat in if the windows are down. if they are up you dont feel anythign coem through there becaus of the pressure in the car. thats why im thinking it a seal or somthing does any one have an idea of whats down around that area i can check?? my other maxima doesnt do this but it is an auto so i it is set up different. im putting the o2 sensor on today to see if my crappy idle and occasional stalling stop.

FINALLY no more bogging and stalling but i am still trying to figure out where the smell and fumes are coming from. ok if these things are going to with your max it probally is your o2 sensor

1. Blowing your ENG CONT fuse every once in a while.
2. Rough idle
3. occasional stalling when engien comes to an idle or is idling.
4. engine bogging while driving at a constant speed or while accelerating.

these may not be all of them or may not be specifically for the o2 but according to the parts trouble shooting book at bumper to bumper #2 and #3 are a definite symptom.

thanks for everyones hel;p and i hope this can help with a problem someone else may have.
