My friend is selling a pair of headlights he was going to put on his 94 max. My question is will these work on my 93 GXE.
Here is a pic.

Physically the cars are the same, so yes they will work.

The question is.....do you want that look or not....

IMO they looked decent, but not any better than the bimmer lights, certainly better than the stock ones...

Better then e36's???
Oh of course, mini van lights vs. luxury sports cars. No competition.
Xcept E36's don't gap around the intire assembly.

I said NOT any better than E36's.

basically on par with them, but i would have to do something about the grille area....the cefiro grille doesnt cut it.

Yea that was my max at the nj meet this year with the cefiro lights. Let me tell ya not an easy project, i dont recommend doin it. I had to lose my ac to do it. =( And i used the grill from the same cefiro that the projectors are from. Everyone at the show seemed to like them, but not many on here like them. I like the e36 lights too, but there so common now ud think they came stock on 3rd gens, hehe. Like i said e36's are nice, but i like the my projectors, nice jdm look i think. =) if u do get them let me know i can give u some pointers on installing them. p.s if u watch the video of the nj meet, towards the end, the highway driving, u can see them with the lights on, 2 projectors on and the yellow foggies in the middle.

Good points about the e36 lights being common, however it's kinda like the whole mesh grille thing. Lots of people have them, but 90% of them look like absolute garbage.

There's maybe four mesh grilles I've seen in all my years in the Maxima 'scene' that were/are good looking, and that includes mine.

There's also maybe four e36 light conversions that look good. Mine being one, Craig's being another, awsm66's being the third. Then there's maybe one or two guys on here who have decent looking e36 lights but I cant remember their names. The vast majority of the e36 lights on here look like absolute trash - and that's being nice.

Having said all that, these 90% of the people I'm speaking about dont realize their grilles and 'conversions' look like trash, so I guess ignorance is bliss

I will say that a lot of guys on .org have e36 lights, but in the grand scheme of things, not that many 3rd gen Maximas have them.

If you drive around just about anywhere you will see plenty of 3rd gens every day, but I haven't seen one with e36 ights in person yet.

Of course, James is totally right about most of them looking like they were just stuck in the spots. The lights aren't a perfect fit and you have to be willing to work hard and do some research to get them to fit/look really clean.

Even though a lot of .org members have them, I think e36 lights are still a pretty unique mod that, if done right, can improve the looks of the car.

yeah u have to think of it this way, we think there common, just like clear corners and fstb. because ur on a fourm of p[eople with this car modding it. but once you exit this realm, we are very rare. Its like how many civics modded do u see in one day, thats common. how many 3rdgen maximas do you see modded everyday. where i live i see 1...............me and so that makes it pretty rare

Hey, Well ur gonna need a good cutter, (plasma cutter if u can get your hands on one) a good wire fed welder and some extra metal to make new brackets out of too. You have to get the grill that goes with the projectors too, becuase the lights connect right to the grill (makes it easier to line up and ****). Your gonna have some gap issues, as i still do, but they still look good i think.

sorry...just reading what you typed. sounds like you're sweating this guy big time about it..with the "you haven't responded". maybe he doesn't want to be bothered? why not try it on your own instead ya know? since you say you have a clue then go for it. you want something unique then do it yourself...or pay a shop to do it for you (since you claim to be rich and all).

try not to call names...this is not the 1st time i questioned you about your stories mr bling bling.

Just digging a little, to this summer....

I saw Maxinct at the CT meet this weekend, and got some pics.

It looks very hott in person. I did a little search, and for the A31 Cefiro there are quite a few grille options, I'll go look for a few to show you....

I talked to japandy a seller on ebay, i think he might be a US military guy in Japan, he said he can get them for about $100, but because of the weight of the glass lenses they would be like $150 air parcel to ship, so $250 shipped is about what they would cost.

Grille options

Here are the few that I found, not sure how hard any of these are to get?

1988 Cefiro

This one looks much like the UK maxima grille, and would look great painted body color or left as is.

Something much like the 89-91 grille

Custom???

If the x's dont show... i may have exceeded the geocities account limit..?

Be patient

normally geocities doesn't allow remote picture linking

so you'll have to post the links (I did it above). They'll show up later using IMG tags if you've already viewed them so sometimes people think they're working but they're not working for others

edit: but yeah, it does look like the bandwidth is exceeded for now

damn, this ride is SEXY! i think the lights look even better on a 3rdGen than on the cefiero itself... too bad i don't have all the tools or money to do this, otherwise i'd get these lights not the E36s

Those lights really do look nice, IMO, especially with the grill. I think that might be because the car is black too. Not sure if they'll look the same with any other color. One thing, though, they would look even better with euro corners.

I speak Japanese. Let me try and find some on Japanese eBay. I will post if I'm able to find some. If not, I'll try finding some through friends in Tokyo. BTW, $150 shipped is waaaaaaaay too much! I send stuff there all the time. Can't possibly cost that much!

As for general 3rd gen mods getting over-played, I agree with most people here. Guys, relax! NOT EVEN 1% of 3rd gens in the country have most of the mods we all do. I have lived all over the country except the west coast, and have seen hundreds of 3rds on the road, but NOT EVEN ONE had anything even as simple as clear corners!

Supposedly the $150 was JUST for shipping. + $100 for the lights themselves

What I just noticed is that the corners of the lights line up directly with the hood lines. Lile the accent lines in the middle of the hood. Compare the stock headlights and grille to that...
