Starting problem on warm engine.

Recently I descovered a problem on my 93 GXE MAXIMA.
When I take a quick stop just for few minutes and I turn the engine off, sometimes I have a problem with starting the car. Trying to start up again wont help. I have to wait for few more minutes and then try again. Sometimes it will start rigt away but not always. The engin does not start with that nice sound, I can feel ,it is struggling, so I have to step on it. When it is finally running there is no problem at all.
Twice when had that problem I was able to smell the gas, but I do not know if it was related.
I am also not sure about my car gas milage. It takes about 14-15 l / 100 km. Before when I was living in States I had 89 GXE Maxima but it's consumption was smaller(or maybe the gas prices ware lower, than here in Canada)
Plesae help if You had that problem and know the solution.
