Will be buying a 91 maxima sport edition sedan in 2 day with 44k miles.

Here is a pic, its real nice, only problems is the rims are oxizided, there are various scratches on the body but not heavy, and the rear seat leather at the top is cracking, and i think either the headunit has its channel for the 2 front and rear speakers on the right side blown or the bose amps or speakers on the front and rear right are gone . Other then that the car is very clean and only has 44k original miles on the engine.

You havent looked at many then because its actually pretty common. I have 1 (93) and on of my parts car (89) is one too.

I have a Stillen kit. You can get them from a couple of places. Look in the FAQs at the top of the page. They should be a couple of the first posts. There are some vendors located in there. There is also a WW (wings west) kit along with some other more expensive but less good looking kits. To me the Stillen is the best because it compliments the natural body lines of the 3rd gen without looking like it is just stuck on there. Everyones opinion is different though so check out cardomain and see if you like some of the other kits as well.
Expect to pay around $470 and up for it new.
There is a lot of good info in the FAQs so check them out.
BTW nice find...especially with mileage that low.
Sounds like a great deal! Congrats!
Can't quite make it out in the picture. The colored area is throwing me off. Is that an automatic climate control system?
Help me out, guys, but that would be unusual to see in an SE, correct?

what is the difference between vg and ve? I know it has an overdrive button with also a power button and comfort button under the radio in the middle. Also what is so good about an automatic climate control and how can you tell?
the climate control has an off slider and fan power 1-4 then the temp slider, above that is a circulate air inside the car, an ac button, a defroster button, the different vent buttons for just face air or face and feet air etc, and it also allows you to flip a switch to make all the air go to the windshield.

nope not ACC...check my sig in my earlier post to see how my unit looks different from his (mine is ACC). The ACC is standard in all Canadian cars so its not unusual to see an SE with ACC in Canada at least.
The US Maximas were not available with ACC in the SE model. Only the GXE could get the ACC and that was an option.
I am one of only 2 US SE maximas that has ACC...at least that I know of and right now at least (one more is in the works soon).

Yeah, all maximas across the board are generally AT and I believe the 10 percent figure is about right for the 5-speed. I think you see more of them (5-speeds) on .org because most of us here are enthusiasts and manual shifting tends to rate higher with most driving enthusiasts.
Car looks nice and ultra low miles for a car that is 14 model years old. Crap, my 2000 Infiniti has more miles than that!
I like the color, too
the VE is the engine designation (VE30DE) which is the DOHC engine in the 92-94 SEs with 190 hp. The VG (VG30E) is the SOHC cam engine found in all GXEs (89-94) and SEs from 89-91 with 160 hp. You missed it by a year...
BTW, the 5-speed is standard on the SE, but most were just built with the AT, that way they can charge more for it. I have a scan of someone's original window sticker from a 5-speed that lists the m/t as a standard feature.

You can change the shift settings, like in power mode it will generally wait until a higher rpm is reached and then shift, where as the comfort will shift at very low rpms, and in the middle is just normal. Btw i paid 1000K for my 91se w/ 129k miles, and leather interior and a bunch of new engine components!
So what are some mods I can do to this bad boy? Someone mentioned e36 headlights, is there a thread on this, search is down. Dunno why it is I have a dual xeon server that I host my hosting clients on and this forum would do fine on it.

woah 1000K...thats a lot of dough for an old car. Now if it was just $1000 (or $1K) it would be a good deal.

Sorry I had nothing better to say so figured I would give you a hard time for spending $1 million on a 91.

Nice car
Love the colour, I wish mine was that colour.
Oh well, I guess I'll just suffer with black, the 5 speed with limited slip and the auto climate control. Oh wait, that doesn't sound so bad after all does it?
As you'll soon learn, any problems in the Bose system are trouble, because the system runs on a resistance of 1ohm as opposed to 4 ohm which is the industry standard. That means you can't replace the head unit or speakers with aftermarket units without using adaptors. If you do have blown speakers or amps, you'll either have to replace those parts with used or rebuilt bose parts, or replace the speakers and head unit, bypsassing the amps. But, before you do anything, go over the system thouroughly to make sure it's not something easily fixable like bad contacts or wires.
Anyhow, I think you'll enjoy your Maxima. Don't worry about not having the auto climate control, it's a nice feature, but you can accomplish the same thing with the regular hvac controls. In some ways I like the auto system because I can push one button and it automatically adjusts everything else. Other times I want it to work a certain way, and I find by the time I've cycled through the different modes, I could have done the same thing in half the time with regular hvac. There's lots of information here, and on other sites linked in the FAQs so just keep looking and learning.

ok so say I just want to replace the head unit with one from my old car. Its a cd/mp3 player. What adapter do I need to get from crutchfield? Do I need to get the this http://www.crutchfield.com/S-uwYz88v...&avf=Y&search=
Or just this http://www.crutchfield.com/S-uwYz88v...&avf=Y&search=
or both?
Also do I need an antenna adapter to add an aftermarket hu?
If you need to look go to crutchfield and put in 91 nissan maxima with the bose system.

It depends on what you want to do. If you want to use the amp in the headunit then you just need the regulare wiring adapter and you need to bypass the amps at each speaker.
If you want to keep the Bose amps then you need the 1st one you posted so you can change the high level leads of your radio to low level for the bose amps.
You really need to read all the stickies on the board (the posts that are permanently stuck at the top). I am not sure if that is covered but I know a lot of other stuff is and it will be helpful to you.
Yeah I looked and I didn't find it I'm looking through the faq now that each person did. So if I just get the harness I can bypass the amps that are next to the bose speakers? So if the amps blew on my right frotn and rear the speakers will work cause the new hu will be powering them?
Is each amp built in with the speaker? where are the amps located in the car? forgive my ignorance.

The amp and speaker are in an enclosure. So each speaker has its own amp.
For the rear you will see a rectangle box next to the 6x9 that is actually part of the speaker bracket. That is where the amp is located for the rears.
On the front sprakers there are big enclosures and I believe you have to take them apart to get to the amp. I cant remember though since its been a while since I messed with them.
To answer your question about the speakers working. If the speakers are fine (they usually are) then you can bypass the amp and hook it to your aftermarket radio. That should fix your problem and all speakers should work.
If you do decide to keep the Bose stuff I can rebuild the amps. I charge $30 an amp including shipping back to you. Or there is a write up on what you need to do to repair them. You have to be able to desolder and solder new caps onto the amps though. Not hard but if you have never soldered before you may mess the boards up.
My suggestion though if you really want to bypass the amp then just chunk the bose speakers too. Make your own brackets for 6.5s in the front or buy them from James92SE on here. He does good work and for a cheap price. Then just get some 6x9s for the rear.
Thanks for the info, my thing is to do it for as cheap as possible. My hu I have now works fine and puts out alot so I will just bypass the amps all together and I just have to pay 25 bucks in parts. tunes are my main concerns since I drive 4 hours to go up to where I used to go to college to visit my gf and will be doing it every other weekend or so. I'll just move my old system over to this one. The bose speakers actually sound alot better then the aftermarket I had in my other car. Thanks for the info I really appreciate it. My only other question for you is where did you get your body/lip kit for your car, it seems there is one for everything else on ebay cept a 91 maxima. Also do e36 headlights fit in with no modifying of the harness or is there a writeup on that which you could point me to? after the stereo I think I will tackle that and clear corners.
I got my Stillen kit used (but never installed) from another orger a couple years ago. See my second post in this thread for more info on the Stillen and other kits.
You do have to modify stuff for the E36 lights to work. Craig B has a write up on his page. His page is in the stickies or FAQs. Its not too hard to do...just be patient.
