Painting old tails

Painting old tails



Im using duplicolor trim paint...i sanded down the chrome with 400 grit sandpaper first, then cleaned it with alchohol...any tips? suggestions? michael chime in here...should I put a clear on it?

my chrome was all fading...it actually was turning green, thats why im painting em

you have me confused in the pics. You have the trim taped up but that is what you painted

Anyway dont clear them. To me trim looks better matte black instead of gloss black. Its whatever you want though especially since you probably arent putting them back on the car.

i would suggest applying clear coat to protect the paint from peeling or chipping. but these guys are right, it would look better as a flat black.
i hope you primed these before you painted because that chrome ish never seems to really go away.
i'm in the middle of doing the same thing to my tails but i will clear coat them due to my paranoia of the paint getting scuffed up.

looks nice!

yeah i painted the trim...sorry for the confusion haha...I put some clear one just so it doesnt come off easily...unfortunately i didnt primer them...i will on the next one, and might redo this one...and aw89 i was wondering how you did yours?

Picked some spray called "Nite Shades" from some ricer shops and just sprayed it on...just several coats
