Painting old tails
Painting old tails

Im using duplicolor trim paint...i sanded down the chrome with 400 grit sandpaper first, then cleaned it with alchohol...any tips? suggestions? michael chime in here...should I put a clear on it?
you have me confused in the pics. You have the trim taped up but that is what you painted
Anyway dont clear them. To me trim looks better matte black instead of gloss black. Its whatever you want though especially since you probably arent putting them back on the car.

i would suggest applying clear coat to protect the paint from peeling or chipping. but these guys are right, it would look better as a flat black.
i hope you primed these before you painted because that chrome ish never seems to really go away.
i'm in the middle of doing the same thing to my tails but i will clear coat them due to my paranoia of the paint getting scuffed up.
looks nice!
