Suspension Woes
Alright, so I just got the Max all done with lowering it. Haven't gotten pics up yet though cuz it's been raining. I got KYB GR2's with ST springs. The ride is great but only when the roads are dry. When I'm driving in the rain, the car goes everywhere and I have almost no control over the steering. If I go over a slick spot, the steering wheel jerks over that way. It's a b*tch to try and drive in the rain! I know I am for sure getting an alignment, but do you think that it is just out of alignment? Should I get a fstb too? Thanks in advance.

Definitely get it aligned.
and good tread does not neccesarily make a good tire.
My camaro's tires have like new tread depth but they ain't worth a ****!!
(of course they are also older than some members on here )

I did my suspension this past winter myself and drove it home from friends house without alignment being done and i thought i was gonna crash. You DEFINATLEY need alignment when changing the ride hight of the car. When i seen the angles on the computer when getting alignment done at friends shop the meters were of the charts ( the wheels were way alignment) get the alignment done and u will be all set. =)

i think u prolly have worn out tires to begin with. but did u get a camber kit to adjust ur camber as well?
cuz' if u lower ur car ur wheels tends to be slanted whereas normally the wheels are perpendicular to the ground. if ur wheels are slanted inwards at the top that's called positive camber.(it might be other way round, someone correct if i'm wrong.)
so when ur wheels are slanted, u're only running more on the inside edge of ur tires depending on how much camber u have, and therefore, less contact between the tire and the ground.
u can fix that by getting a camber kit that corrects ur camber so that u have full contact between ur tires and the road surface, and therefore more traction. that's always a good thing right?

Oopps.. didn't read all the posts so i didn't see that ur tires aren't so worn. sry..
but still, get the camber kit to have ur whole tire on the road.
and michelin makes good tires(hella expensive too).. but i have Yokohama H4S, it's doing awsome in both wet and dry..

I have the same camber problem since I have a lowered car. My wheels tuck in at the top so the inside thread on my tires always wear down. Its a real pain in the butt having to change tires every three months, maybe i'll look into the camber kit you guys are talking about.

Sure... but they try to charge you $75 PER BOLT..
just install them when you're installing the struts. it costs an extra $20 and takes ZERO additional time to install. put the springs on the car, drive them a couple hundred miles until the springs settle a bit, then go get it aligned.. tell them the bolts are already in it and to use them if needed to correct the alignment. done.

Alright guys, just got back from a vacation and had the car aligned while gone. When I got home, it was pooring down rain. It was prolly the only day in my life when I was actually glad it was raining! lol But, anyways, the guy told me that the car was wayyy out of alignment. Now, it rides sooo smooth on the road in the rain now. I'm soo happy that I got this done. And to everyone, trust me, I work at Discount Tires, I HAVE GOOD TIRES!! haha

felt i should share....
mine had the same symptoms as well. Stock. I changed springs, struts, sway bars and upgraded my tires (17s with over 90% tread, fresh, no irregular wear) still persisted. I then changed my balljoints and a control arm bushing and the problem subsided a whole lot. I'd attribute it to control arm bushings, possibly balljoints. Might as well get them changed since you've probably never done them.
