2 noob questions

I looked back at a repair bill for my 93 GXE Maxima and the dealer replaced the Fuel Sender it cost like $20 I asked my friend what a fuel sender was and he had no idea is it what it says? Also and heres the noob question where is the hole in the firewall for a 93 GXE Max? I've tried searching in the forum but couldn't find anything from the last few weeks and I didn't see it in FAQ. Sorry for the noob question please don't hate me.

The fuel sender is the part that sends the signal back to the dash to show the correct fuel level in the tank. I assume that you were having gas gauge problems, or they wouldn't have replaced it. Can't help you with the firewall hole. There may be some that are plugged with rubber hole plugs, but I don't know for sure.

Actually I did not have problems with gauge at least I don't think I did. I was having problems with shifter. If I put it in D it would not go I had to put it in 2 or 1 and then move it to D to go.

Umm...so why did they replace a fuel sender? Maybe they entered the part number wrong or something. Sounds like what they would have replaced was a shift bushing.

There's a hole behind the driver side fender, you have to take the splash guard thats closest to the drivers door, and you'll see a grommet, put your wire in there (for a system im guessing?) and itll come out by the dead pedal somewhere, get a flashlight
