Crazy AC problem in 91

Hello all, just wondering if you could help me figure out my strange AC prob. It seems that during the day, when it gets warm (90+ in SC) my compressor stops running, and its blowing hot air. No problems in the morn, or at night. My coolant levels are good and the engine is not running hot. I had a buddy check the freon and he said it was fine, so I am convinced maybe its some kind of control for it, like a relay or something. Anybody got any ideas? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the AC button pressed and is the vent lever on closed in the climate control. I am moving to columbia in a few maybe we can setup a mini meet. Keep in touch.

Yes the button is pressed, I have noticed sometimes that the light does go out on the button, and I have tried it with the lever in both directions. Congrats on the move, and sure, I will buy you a beer when you come if you can tell how to fix this. Thanks!

could be a faulty pressure switch, or a bad clutch. When you turn it on in the middle of the day, see if the clutch is actually engaging or not.
