Wheel spin

If I block the rear wheels, raise the front end of my car, and put the transmission in drive... only one wheel spins! With some extra gas the other front wheel begins to turns, but when the gas is let up, it kind of seizes up again. However, I haven't noticed anything in the handling or performance. There is no pull in either direction when i drive, so sounds accompanying the issue or any other symptoms whatsoever. So I'm deferring to the experts here because I have no idea where the problem is. Any ideas are highly appreciated

that's because you have an open differential. only one wheel will spin- basically it'll pick one and spin it.

If you have limited slip differential, both wheels would spin.
