92 Project Car - Update for 2004/07/22 (Dialup beware!)

Well, I've made a lot of progress. I really have spent a lot of time on the body and have a particular peice of it that I've completed.

In the rear, I wanted to shave off the Maxima logo and plastic. What I did was recreate the entire center section from sheet metal. I did this so that it would have a shaved look, but be subtle enough for most people not to notice. You can also see in the pics that i removed the spoiler and filled it with steel.

Before - Note that the entire rear end had been pusehd in a good bit (compare the deck lid with where it meets the body)

The Project

Here is a funny picture - This is with No sheetmetal, no interior, no dash etc driving down my road... (Daughter in car having a blast )

I'll be shooting the primer in the next week or two. I'm taking the whole thing down to bare metal and doing everything myself here at the house. I'll post more pics in a while.

Looks good. Nice to see someone actually getting out in the garage and doing something instead of just posting about doing it

Looks good. The only advice I would give you since I have a similar project is not to sand it to bare metal.

It is not worth it IMO. Plus you will need a good epoxy primer for the bare metal (more money) that isnt as good as the factory Ecoat. I stripped mine down and wish I hadnt.

Good job though and keep us updated. Maybe it will not be a never ending project like mine (lack of money and time to work on it much until recently).

Wow are you aware someone stole everything off your car? LOL, I like the bucket drivers seat though In all seriousness though, like this can you notice a difference in response from a stop? Take it to the strip!

Actually, the answer is a big YES! After rmoving so much weight you can tell a big difference.

Of course - I'd like to think that some of that is due to the engine work I've done (No, nothing wild, just getting it running right)

i wou'd love to tear down my car like this. well i do tear it down but not to this extent. that's mainly because it always needs to be driveable by monday morning for work....
