Well, the UPS guys drop some rims off yesterday, now i have some tire size Qs..

Got some Nissan Murano 18x7.5, 35 off set wheels from ebay for a reasonable price. Try them on today with no problem, was going to take more pics, but the battery went dead after a few shots. Anyway here is my Q. Can i run 235/40/18 tire on these 7.5 rims, cause they have almost the perfect height as the stock 205/65/15 tire. BUT all the tire maker sites that i have check recomment the 235 tire mount on at least
8" rims, therefore am i going to have a problem, or put me in any danger on the road? Or should i go with 225/40/18 instead ?
BTW those Murano are not that heavy, thay are ~ 25-26lb each.

It will just cause the sides to bulge out a bit.
heck I've run 195/50/15s on an 8" rim before

I dont see any reason why 235 would be a problem. The Subzero's are 7.5" wide and there's a few guys running 235's on em.

What did you use to weigh the wheels, bathroom scale? My 17's weighs 23lbs 13oz and that was on a post office scale. I consider my wheels moderately heavy, not too heavy not so light. My wheels are 7" wide and I've used 235's for many years without a problem. It wasn't until about 3-4 yrs ago when folks on the DotOrg started posted you need a minimum of 8" for 235 tires. Again they were getting this info from places like TireRack etc. I'm not saying those tire places are incorrect, I am saying use your best judgement.

BTW get those wheels mountd asap
Those wheels seem to be very popular on eBay and I'm curiuos to see what the final outcome will look like. Are those stock springs I see in there? After-market springs will enhance the final outcome a lot better, as I'm sure you already know.

Yeah i did use a bathroom scale to get weigh but i also use that scale to weigh my stock wheel and tire and get this

So, from what i have found, the new tire is going to be around 23-24 lbs. With the new wheel, tire and air, the new set up would put an extra 10-12 lbs on each corner. That is not going to help the performance, hopefuly with the increase in handleing would make it worthwhile.

I don't see why the wouldn't work......
My tires are 195 60 15 and they tried to tell me the tires wouldn't hold the weight of the maxima, but it sticks better around curves and does hold the weight of car.

I want to see the final product myself ASAP, but do you not know how much it cost to get a decent set of tires?
BTW i have decided to go with 235/40/18 Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S, they cost $142 each from tirerack.com.
I plane to have it done by mid August, just wait for my post.
Thankyou everyone for the replys.
