Bosal Muffler & Cat follow up

Took car to a Meinke shop to determime estimate to replace Cat back. Price seemed a fair $280, but they said cat was bad as it rattled when moved, claimed loose particles in cat, this brought price up to $552. I can order a bosal cat back from autozone for $115 and a bosal cat for $94. Has anyone used these? Is cat back one piece? Is fit a simple bolt on. I hope the only problem would be removing the bolts in the cat. Any suggetions or comments appreciated.

I agree, do it yourself. And while you are at it, don't buy the bosal cat--that is a rip off at $94. Go to ebay and pick up a carsound or catco; both names are the big dogs in the high flow cat department. They can both be had for under $50 as well.

I did some research and that exhaust system is a direct replacement for OEM. Meaning, there is no performance or sound difference.

how much..if ur concerned about gas mileage rather than performance like me i would get the bosal if its less expensive than a flowmaster with a bent catback pipe from meineke...

I don't know if you understand. Bosal manufactures exhaust systems for car manufacturers and the cat back for the Maxima is one of them. It is literally identical to what came on the car from the factory. It will change nothing.

if your looking for a stock replacement then get some liquid wrench and soak the bolts, let them sit 15-20 min then crack em loose. remove old cat back exhaust bolt in your new catback and your done

btw, a high flow cat will not change the exhaust tone, the muffler will however

Jon
Thanks for info - I will order Bosal and replace myself, sound like cheapest fix.
