1990, won't even crank
Hey
Friends 1990 Maxima GXE has been sittin for about two weeks since we last started it. So go to start it yesterday, batteries dead. Meh, whatever. Hook up another car to it, have a lil more than the usual 13volts running through into the Max. Car has FULL poewr, EXCEPT to crank. Twist the key and nothing. The alternator is dead, but that is simply a charging system and the car should still start when hooked up to another fully charged vehicle...
Could it be anything other than the park/neutrel safety switch or the starter? You get NOTHING when you try and crank, but my friend had complained on occasion that he would have to slap it in and out of park to start it sometimes, as if the p/n safety wasn't fully switched...So that's my first stop...How would we go about TEMPORARILY bypassing the switch? I don't know where it is, but Iknow it is somehwere If we could get it started we could drive it to somewhere that we could much more easily repair it...instead of in a field
Thanx for any tips, suggestions, or flaming...

Alternator won't affect the car's ability to crank if you have it jumped.
1) Tap starter with a hammer to see if you can unstick it.
2) Check all fuses
3) Check the p/n switch like you mention. Try jiggling the auto stick back/forth.
