! found wire brush in breather hose!!!

Holy **** I was trying to fix the connection on my CAI to the MAF to fix the air leak....and I took off the hose that goes from the intake to the breather tube(tube over the middle of the engine dohc) and there was a wire brush inside the hose....what sort of problems could this of been givin me?....now that I took the wire brush out will i get better mileage?

Probably didn't do squat to hurt your performance.. maybe a couple HP loss from the added turbulence in the air stream, but that's about it. go drive the car and see.

it's about 1/2-3/4 inch in length. center part of the wire is bend 90 degrees at the ends. wires are usually bronze in color.

its like 3 inches long....2 thin white metal twisted like a pretzel...with wire brush on it in a circle......it almost looks like someone was using it to clean the tube...and forgot to pull it out.....

keep in mind i'm referring to the VG...might be different on VE.

i'm pretty sure it's supposed to be in there. it's only air that passes that part. if you took it out it'll prob suck in actual oil. who in their right mind would attempt to clean a rubber hose?

Nope, it's in the SR20 as well so it's probably a lesser known addition to all Nissan (and probably other manufacturers as well) engines. And you are correct... it keeps oil and particles from entering the intake stream

Yup, I've found them in both my VGs. They reside in the oil breather tubes as well.

I found a wire brush inside of my92se's car while installing his CAI for him. It is used to grap any big particals that might try and slip by. It is ok since it will not go anywhere.
