from what I've heard, there are a few people that have the ebay CAI's and they say they're fine. Dont just put a muffler on the stock exhaust tho....just save your money and get a catback--its worth it

That's what I did awhile back when I was poor too and I like how mine sounds.....it's nice and low in low rpm's, but when the rpm's get high it has a nice hum to it

.....basically it's up to you. I've had the large can single exhuast and I thought it was too loud and when it got jacked, I got a DTM stle one and I like it a lot.

Before you get a muffler, you should get a y-pipe. The gains are pretty substantial, even if the rest of your exhaust is stock. I had a completely stock car when I put on my y-pipe and I could tell the difference.

If you want an inexpensive universal muffler, just go to some local muffler shops and talk to the guys there. Mufflers are somewhat heavy and you are usually going to add $10 to $20 to the price for shipping if you buy it off the net. On a previous car, I think I paid around $50 for a nice Dynomax muffler that sounded really nice. It didn't have a chrome tip or anything, but I could have added one for more $.

As for intakes, I think a number of guys have bought the one off of ebay from Legacy Racing (?) and it has worked out for them. You have to cut some of your inner fender down near the battery, but no one can really see it. I don't know if the filter that comes with it is all that great. If it were me, I would go with a K&N or something similar. I personally have a pop-charger and I am happy with it. Maybe later I will add the rest of the cold air portion.

ok our engine is a V6 so its in a V form, and this means you have 2 seperate exhaust manafolds, one on each side. the y pipe connects the two together/ merges the 2 together to go through the exhaust, because we have only one exhaust pipe hope this helps!

im sure someone else could get into it more detailed but i am going for simplicity

it'll be ok MrGone, it'll be ok

I still think its funny the y-pipe is one of the last things I'm getting, it was one of the first things I ever wanted to get when I had my black max. lol.

heres a pic so you can get a better idea of the y-pipe. red = y-pipe, blue = cat.
actually red = stock y-pipe lol.

if you take hte resonator out of the intake you might notice a slight hum when the car is idling. it will go away if you get a mid pipe or full CAI. its no biggy, just something I noticed. When your not going WOT there isnt really much of a noise increase, its just when you go WOT it gets alot louder, its not bad, trust me you'll like it, everyone has (although I do wanna put my stock intake back on and see what it sounds like, its been so long lol).

It's nothing permanent, if you dont like it put the resonator back on. Dont forget to plug the hole. when I first did mine I just made a duct tape cover and used the hose clamp to make sure it didnt go anywhere lol.

Quick question, I think it's been answered before so don't bomb me. Will 92-94 SE CAI's work on the 89 VG? I found something like these on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=38634

And there is this one that looks like it could fit for a VG, but it's not listed so I'm not sure:

No, for it to fit a VG it needs a 'S' or 'Z' sort of shaped tube, then a 'L' shapped tube.

antonthegrey is selling his. it has only 1 bend instead of 3 and is easier to install.

Is it true that CAI suck up a lot of water since they sit in the wheel well?

I've heard horror stories of peoples car shutting down after their CAI sucked up a ton of water when driving in a rainstorm.

The only hydrolock stories I have heard were from people driving in knee deep water--not smart even without the CAI.
