does the 93 max have a factory alarm? if so, how to disable it?
I am actually posting this for my friend. he owns a 93 se max, and his car will not start. when he turns the key, all he get is a click. the battery is strong, so we are thinking it my be the alarm. the alarm has been acting funny ever since he got the car. i am wondering if it is a factory alarm, or aftermarket. i think he said it is made my "cifford" or something to that effect. what we are guessing is that it will not let him start the car unless he disables the alarm, but he lost the keyfob. any ideas guys? thank you.

stock 3rd gen alarm was made by Nissan, not Clifford, so I'm guessing that's aftermarket
you can just unplug the 3rd gen alarm to disable it
you'll need to find the model number of the clifford alarm and look up the wiring diagrams for it and follow some of those wires
also, you may want to try jump starting it. Just because some accessories work does not mean the battery is strong. Often you'll hear relays clicking when you try to start the car but the battery doesn't have enough power to turn it over.

hmmm, thats what i thought. would you think that maybe he blew a fuse? his car was working fine in the morning, but after he re-wired his stereo to be neater, it wouldn't start. i had him disconet the power wire so it would be like he didn't have a system and then have him try it, but it didn't work.
it is all leading back up to the batt, but my friend says that all the lights are really bright, and the headlights are bright as well. any other thoughts guys? thanks again

yeah, definitely check the fuses and double check his wiring in the stereo stuff

[Nice play on words there buddy!
I am sorry you’re jealous that you don't have a new car, but I forgive you. Maybe someday. Just keep your hopes up and keep on being
and I am sure your boyfriend will get you something nice!
Happy posting!

it's just harmless bashing here icepick... if he can't take it, then he should not have made that post in the first place. But this threads worth is over, for the problem has been solved... so lets end this, and kill this thread.

Hey, everyone, sorry this is so late after you killed the thread, but I have a question. I have a 93 maxima and I believe the security is preventing me from locking my doors. Every time I lock the second door, all the doors unlock automatically. What cna this be?
It's probably the door lock timer. Little control unit they added in '92 in attempt to solve a similar problem when pushing the locks down manually. In epic fail fashion it compounded the problem by at least 200%.
Replace it, it's to the side of the steering column behind the panel.
