Key Cut Codes

Where can I find the key cut code? I hear you can find it near the glove box, but I'm not sure where?... I don't want a shadow cut key, and I can't go to the dealer, because I don't know where my car originally came from.

back in 91...the keys came w/ this little metal engraved tag w/ the keychains. the keycode was on this. not sure where it is on the car. the dealers can probably cut u a key with a VIN.

sorry danny, but unless he goes to the original selling dealer, they can't cut by VIN
tried it for mine.
had to get the code off the sticker in my glovebox

So, what's the answer? Using only the VIN or the glove box code, where can one get a master key cut?

depends on your car, how much the dealer is willing to help out, whether your VIN was entered into the system with the key code..

they had several volunteer type programs out there at the time, and no set standard of listing a VIN with the key code.

if you have the glove box code, you can go to any locksmith and have it cut.
The Vin is only truly useful on 94s unles you get the original selling dealer and he still has the info

Where exactly is the code on/in the glove box? If I take out all the junk in the box would the code be visible or do I have to remove the box in order to find the code?

the code may not be in the box anymore.
It was on a sticker that says "to be removed by dealer prior to delivery to customer"
but it would be in the box itself
