Interlock Relay on M/T models only???

Interlock Relay on M/T models only???
ok guys this might be a stupid question but what is an Interlock Relay used for??? as i was doin' the auto to manual swap i noticed a relay on the right driver side of the engine bay which is only on the M/T models only. what is this relay used for??? just curious though.

or maybe it was to only allow it to start with the clutch depressed?

i removed it i hated pushing the clutch in just to start the car, plus my remote starter wouldnt work with it in. I never leave the car in gear so im not worried

oh ok thanks guys for ur feedback. i guess i took it out of the parts car for nothing thinkin' that i would need it. oh well.
