Blowing fuses?

ok, here is the problem, when i got the car the interior lights werent working( both of the map lights and the dome light) i checked the fuses it turns out that the 10A fuse was missing from the interior lights slot (or whatever the exact name is) so i put in the fuse and it just made a spark and screwed up the fuse. all of the lightbulbs seem fine so could it be a short in the electrical system? if so has anyone fixed that before or had the same problem?

Thanks in advance

check that wiring...the lumination wire might be shorting out hence shorting out the lighting to then entire dash and other stuff....wait is the dash lighting up?

also what FUSE was it? (there should be a description or a name on the slot).

the dash and the rest of of the interior lights are working fine such as the doors and stuff, the only problem is the map lights and the dome light, the fuse that is missing and that keeps on blowing up is the second last on the right side of the panel i am pretty sure the name is interior lights or something like that(i will try to get the exact name ASAP)

I have the same problem. The interior light fuse (dome and map) keeps blowing. I don't understand why that would have anything to do with the radio wiring? I also have an after market radio.

L3LIX- You ever get your problem fixed?

From: Skokie (look it up)
when some aftermarket units are installed they tap into the wrong wires

nope, never fixed the problem, plus i installed a new head unit not too long ago so i've double checked all the wires. I have also checked the connections to the actual lights but there is no sign of a short there.

How were the wires checked? If you have not done it yet, you can check the wires (at the bulb) for a short-to-ground.

Nissan usually had a few illumination wires in there stereo harness and they can be mistaken for a groung wire when probed and with many harnesses. Disconnect the ground on your aftermarket radio, ifs its using the stock ground and see if that changes anything. If it does, just reground your radio to a part of the chassis of the car and tape or cap the other wire.
