bleeding brakes
bleeding brakes
Does anyone know if there is anywhere else to bleed the brakes than at the caliper. My brother and i replaced the calipers, rotors, and pads in the front, and they look bled, but the pedal still goes to the floor. Is there anywhere else to bleed them, or am i going to have to get a new master cylinder too?
Did the pedal go to the floor before you changed the brakes if it did'nt then its not your master cylender. I would say you still have air in the line, if the fluid in the reservoir drops to low I know air can get into the rear brake lines also, I would bleed the rears next.
What do you mean by 'they look bled'? Did you actually bleed them? When you were bleeding, did you make sure the level in the master cylinder didn't fall too low? If it did, there may be air elsewhere in the system as well. Maybe you should bleed the rears as well, just to make sure. Does your car have ABS. I 'think' you have to do something different for bleeding an ABS system. Maybe someone with ABS can shed some light?

According to the FSM, only difference when bleeding w/ ABS is to disconnect the 3 wire harnesses that go into the main ABS unit (1994 FSM).
We bled all the brakes today, started with the back, then did the front. No air came out of any of them and the brakes still go to the floor. We think it will need a new master cylinder. If anyone knows of anywhere else to bleed the brakes or if there is something special i have to do, please let me know.
Thanks,
Andrew
