Craig/others... stock alarm crap inside
I let my car sit for a few weeks, and the 'security' light always blinks when the keys are not in the ignition. I was going to try and search for your tips on the trunk sensor, but figured I'd test the hood one first. Well all of a sudden I shut the car off and bam no light (hood was open). I had my mom help me by watching for the light btw. I pushed down on the hood sender, nothing. This is both with the doors locked and unlocked.
It would be nice if it fixed itself, but I have a feeling that is not the case.
any thoughts?
thanks guys

For starters this is how it's supposed to work:
In the normal case security light blinks all the time when any of security sensors is in "open" state, i.e. if you have a door or hood or trunk open. Once you closed all the doors/trunk/hood it should go off. When you lock the doors it turns on and will remain on for 30-40 seconds. Then it goes off which means security is activated.
I had the problem you've described. My lamp was blinking all the way even when all the doors were locked. I found that in the driver's door one of security circuits was bad. After fixing it everything worked fine again.
The bottom line is that in your case one the alarm circuits is broken. Find it and fix it. FSM will be in a big help for this occasion.
