Hello All,
Last week my 90 SE Max Auto started idling high at startup and while driving. This condition would come and go, put in texaco 93 octane to see if this would clear things up. 1 tank later the problem still exist, with the addition of a new problem, max started to overheat during trips in city traffic, and in the bank drive thru...changed the radiator out, put on new upper and lower hoses and new thermostat. Drove it this afternoon for about 30 min and then parked it. Noticed the high idling problem was happening (2k rpm) before I shut it off...tried to restart but it would just crank and not start. Went in had some dinner came back out to check it out again, it started just fine but the high idle was still present...drove for 15 or so minutes, shut it down and it would crank but not start again...WTH ...Please someone give me clue!

Idle Air Control Valve?

I'll give that a try! Is there a way to test this valve? Thank you for responding...ridge

honestly I don't know how to test the unit, hopefully someone else will chime in with how to do it

Ok thanks! Is this the valve on the top drivers side of the engine next to the air intake? Should i be looking for a vacuum hose coming out of this valve that might be cracked?
