mine has 213k on it and it just started to have some major problems. you should at least get 200k out of your max if you do normal maintanence, and yes that does mean replacing our ****ty injectors once or twice

Mine had 147k on it when I ran a 15.2 and it was 85 degrees out...

I think that the engine with the best maintenance will have the longer life expectancy. Another factor is probably how you drive, too. If you are stop and go and hammering the accelerator all the time, you probably won't get as many miles as someone who drives easy and keeps it at 65 on the freeway.

Grounding the vtc's helped my lower rpm band {idle to 3500 rpm} they were ticking really bad , sounded like a diesel

No, I don't have a scanner. I have the magazines here in my office, though. They were the only ones I could find referencing the VE 5-speed maxima from the early 90s. If anyone knows of any more magazine articles, let me know, I would like to have them for my collection.

BTW, the Maxima won the "showdown" with the SHO and the Camry SE 5-speed. The SHO posted a little better times (it does have 30 more hp) but it had the usual "unsophisticated" and "lacks the aura of greater refinement offered by it's two rivals" type of comments.

211K on my VG. there are guys here with their 3rd gen running over 300k. generally speaking, if you took good care of your max, it should last you a lot longer than you think. most max engines that have maxed out last til at least 350K and above with the assumptions that they knew how to maintain their car.

My 92 VE has 142K and smokes just a little and has other problems. All my posts are about it. My 93 VE has 158K and is perfect. It is all about care and use patterns.

There was a guy that said he had 560,000 on his VG in the main forum a couple months ago, but then he disappeared. Guess his car blew up with him in it.

No smoke,leaks,ticks nothing.
I'm a Buick GN guy so I'm attemting to put a GN turbo on it.(thread in Turbo section) We'll see what a 200,000mi 3.0 will do with some boost.

My max has 129k
My camaro has 80k on the body
My blazer has 108k
my Voyager has 88k on the body
My old bonnie had 115k on it when I bought at the ripe old age of 4 (I think it's up to 170k now at 12 years old)

Mileage has very little to do with how worn an engine is. It is whether it was maintained properly. I've had a few low mileage cars that the engines were bad on them , and I've had lots of high mileage cars with great engines in them. It doesn't matter foriegn or domestic. It matters whether maintained or not ( and whether they were beaten on)
