Temp Sensor (need advice)

Sometime the temp gauge drops to cold and goes back up to the midle. Today it went down then it kept going up to HOt and down to cold repeatly. Finaly dropped to cold and then the midle. I know I wasn't over heating. Could the sensor be bad? or could the connection just cause that?

connection more likely, sensor would normally be consistently wrong

One sensor (red) is for the ecu. One sensor (black) is for the guage. I would highly suspect the guage sensor and/or connection is funky dunky. Clean connection and advise. Or better yet, take the black sensor out, clean it and the connector and advise.
