18" Wheels

I am looking at buying a set of wheels off ebay but have question first. Will 18" wheel off of a toyota fit? I know the bolt pattern (5x114.3) is the same and they are the right offset (40mm). I am concerned about the hub, will I have any problems?

I believe Toyotas have a smaller hub than us, but I am NOT 100% sure about that. I only remember trying to fit some 17s from a 3rd gen onto a mid-90s Camry and feeling the hub seem very loose. I bet if you called tirerack or tires.com they'd give you a more decisive answer.

Will not fit. Hub bore is too small.

Thanks for the help. I was also looking into a set of 17's. I think I might go that way because I do a lot of driving.

if you have nice roads with not too many pot holes, 18s are fine. As long as you dont live in the inner city of wherever you are, you should be good. No matter what size you get, try to get em nice and wide, mine are 8" wide and grip the road like a *****

... dont listen to this kid

i had 18's for about 2 years and they were so nice ... they look perfect and the women love big rims i had lots of complements ... and " rides "
hehee i would rock out some 18's
im thinking of 19's b/c the bigger i think looks better ... but i dunno if i have the ***** to do it.
just dont get crome and dont get ugly wheels.
keep it clean and simple not crazy and confusing.
and if you have 18's dont hit curbs and gigantic pot holes and you won't "bend them".

LOL!! A 19-year old punk is calling me a "kid" and telling the subscriber of the thread not to listen to me. Unbelievable. I think I know a good amount about cars to give the advice I did about getting 17's instead of 18's. And just the fact that this guy is saying that bigger wheels are better and impress the ladies more, shows his inexperience and immaturity.

Can someone tell me why would you want to drive a hot chick in a car sittin on 19's that will make your cd player and changer (if you love the option of having 13 cd's to listen to like myself) skip on every bump or pot hole that's less than an inch deep? My brother friend had 19's on his Mark 8 and had to slow down every time he saw a light deformity in the road. He will only be driving about 30 MPH too! That is also one long **** question.

listen "kid", you're not much older than he is, so dont go strutting your stuff like you're god's gift to women and don't need a cool car to show off. i've had every size rim on my car except for 17's and 19's(i have 20's now) i had the best ride and handling with my 18's. if my tires were a little beefier it would have been even better. in fact the guy that has my 18's now says the ride is 100x better than his 17's.
size is a personal preferance(for looks not performace b4 i get chewed out). if your toyota wheels are aftermarket wheels they may fit since they are usually a universal size.

to add to the drama, i think larger wheels on the 3rd gen look out of place. 17 is limit for me. but whatever. these kind of threads come down to personal taste. personally, i think big chrome wheels are a lame attempt at attention and look tacky. but i suppose variety is the spice of life. woop-dee-doo.

accually ... your all stupid ... i never drove 30mph and i didnt have to watch out for everything indentation in the road. its the fact of being different ... every 3rd gen have 17's and almost every 17 has been done. so when i said to go for an 18 its not that im an imature 17 year old its that being different is always cooler. and by the way ... maybe your suspension just sucks b/c my sihit doesnt skip over any bumbs. so maybe you should SHUT UP befor you talk dumbasses. and im 20 so your wrong about that as well.

17's are way to small for a 3rd gen. 18's look nice and 19's are perfect.
just get a nice 5 spoke or something simple.
look at a 18 x 8 inch moda R6 ... that wheel will look so nice.

lol...you guys all crack me up

18's...no problems EVER with bending/skipping CD's etc whether on Eibach's or Intax/Tokico's with all new bushings etc. do i avoid potholes? yes because it's common sense that an 18" wheel on a 235/40 series tire and a hole at ANY speed could be an issue.

Get whatever size you want but DO take into consideration your suspension setup or future goals and the quality of streets where you travel.

leave the childish name calling out of it...sheesh

what the...

Look wheels are a personal choice thing and one thing I have learned in my many years of experience (I am 32 so you are all "kids" to me ) is that you dont argue over personal choices. I may like 18s but that doesnt mean everyone else does. I dont like chrome on imports...a lot of people do...its a personal choice.

besides Juan dwarf all of ya'll with his wheels

and yes I like 20s if they are tucked like Juans. If they arent tucked and it makes the car jacked up then I think it is hideous imho.

it's impossible to avoid all potholes, and I used to have the 18x8 ModaR6's. But since I live near Washington D.C., and go there a lot, I went down to 17x7.5 Moda R6s, and I no longer have the problem I used to have of bending wheels.

I'd have to say as well that it's everyone's own opinion. IMO, all rims look good on that maxima, I just really like what I saw in mine and mine are 18x8.
