trouble starting car this morning

when i tried to go to work this morning my car wouldnt start. i could here the starter cranking the engine but it wouldnt do anything else. it started on the third try. when i tried to leave work it did the same thing. that time i got it started the second try by pushing the gas pedal a little when i turned the key. once the engine started it ran fine. whats causing it to not start?

btw, i've never had this problem before, it normally starts right away.

Same problem

Hey there. I just had the exact same problem with my 93 Max.

Basically you need a tune-up. Get some new spark plugs (I would say go for platinum) and you'll be starting your maxima right up.

As a side note, I also had really dirt fuel injectors and that combined with my old spark plugs would really give me problems when starting up in the mornings (or when the engine got cold). I would also recommend you get yor injectors cleaned, that way you wont have any startup problems.

Good luck!

i looked at the plugs today, or tried to. those things are a hell of a ways down. i dont have any tools that will get them out.

i'm going to have the plugs, fuel filter and maybe the injectors replace soon. i might just get the injectores cleaned. should i do anything else or will that get it to start up better?

Yeah, changing the plugs can be a ***** sometimes - depends on how often you do them yourself.

After getting new plugs and clean injectors I have had no problems starting up.

Oh yeah, I also replaced the fuel filter - so yeah you might as well do all three in order to not have any problems.

I got the car back from the shop. The spark plugs and filter made a big difference. On my way home i picked up some spark plug wires and put them in. The maxima is running much better now. It's still a little slow to start but it starts on the first try now.

Since you have a VG motor, it seems that you have forgotten the cap and rotor. Replace those (about $25.00) along with your plug wires. That way, you will know that your entire ingition system is good--igintion coil should be still good, however.

Being that you are doing the tune up thing, here are some other items to look at for the VG.

* Clean your throttle body
* Replace PCV valve
* Change air filter
