Hate being at stock height!!!!

happened in my drive at home. my driveway is a little deeper than most and scrapes badly everytime i go in and out of it. most of the time i just park on the street.my front bumper is tore up. has a crack and pulled off one of my fogs.must not be my lucky day. my struts and springs are in a working condition and its not lowered. i really want to do the opposite and raise the car a couple of inches. i heard that the 4th gen struts will raise but can someone verify. i dont car about wheel gap as long as i can still driven my car.

Can you build up the driveway so it's not so steep?

I don't think 4th gen struts fit. Besides, struts aren't what determines ride height, springs do. I am pretty sure they wouldn't fit either.

If I were in your situation, I would be sure the front tires were inflated nearly to the maximum. If you were really desperate, you could go with taller tires, maybe a 205-70-15 or a 205-75-15. That would probably be about the same price as buying new springs and having them installed. You would only be able to get a touring tire (usually an "S" rating). I found some at the local tire store add for about $75 each. You would probably gain 1/2 inch to 1 inch in height on the bigger tires, but your speedo would be slow.

The only problem with noticably taller tires is that you might get rubbing issues. Maybe. No one's done this, so who knows....

Would the lowered car driver's trick of driving up and down it at an angle help you any? Or is it even possible?

I'm not sure if you can just stick some coil spring seat spacers in anywhere... I know they make these spacers for muscle cars and things like that to get a little lift like you want, but I don't know if they're applicable to MacPherson struts or not...

100% agree unless you have to walk about 60+ feet to get to the car. You can get on and off at an angle so it won't hit. Anyone with a body kit knows that you can't get off a steep hill all lined up you must get on and off at an angle.

[QUOTE=joe4]scrapes badly everytime i go in and out of it. This is sad that somone would rather scrape the front end off their car so they don't have to walk a few more feet.

The street he lives on may be filled with cars all the time. At my brothers house the street is always packed and I usually end up parking at least a block away...

get the wheels from the back to the future car that make your car hover.....

just kidding

the 4th gen struts will not fit nor raise ride height. try a larger rim/tire combo im not sure if there are springs made for our cars that raise it since 98% want to lower it (like me) eibachs are a commin ...........

i just used a block of wood under each spring.......................................worke d for me. i can also drive over logs and small children, if the situation ever presents itself, without hurting anyone

dude either
1 do domething to the driveway(100 bucks at most in materials to try to raise up the street end)
2 park on the street. anywhere besides the city there will be plenty of parking, hell i used to park my car right after i painted it in front of my parents house.
3 sell the maxima and get a "higher" car

I was just at Home Depot last night and for $5 you can buy a 60# bag of blacktop filler that you can mash down with a shovel. Maybe 2-3 bags of that stuff and you will be set.

Oh, and when I said get taller tires, they would only be taller by .5 inches to 1 inch. Not enough to rub anything with the stock suspension. You guys are too used to lowered suspensions with wide tires

yeah that suff will help make a small ramp but it never hardens up real well, no matter how well you pack it down or roll it, you can drive on it but when its hot outside it will be soft again so you have to take it slow or youll just trash it, thats meant for more of a temporary fix, a better and more permanent way would be to see if anyone in your neighborhood is getting their driveway re-paved and ask them to stop buy and throw a couple of shovels down and roll it for you, shouldnt be that big of a deal to them if you throw the head guy a few bucks. eitherway will cost way less than changing your suspension.
