Climate Controls are Dead

One more problem on my Max. I just bought this car for $500.00 (pretty good deal I think). Since i've had it, the heater controls haven't worked. The green indicator lights don't light up and I can't switch where I wan't the air to flow from...IE defrost, floor vent, blah blah. Also, the A/C switch doesn't work. Pretty much the only thing that does work on the controls are the fan motor. Anyone have any suggestions on what could be the problem? Are these controls pretty common to taking a crap? Should I check some sort of relay or just replace the whole heater controls? I definately need to get this fixed since its already snowing here. I have checked the fuses by the way....Thanks

yea....I've seen some on ebay for about 20 bucks, some have warranties too. I was just unsure if that is the problem or if It could be something more simple.

Did you get this fixed? This week my vent controls stopped working and all I get is defrost no matter which button I push. Someone told me there might be a loose/damaged vacuum hose, but I can't figure out from the Chilton book if the vent dampers are electronic or vacuum operated. Thoughts?

Removal of Molding Around Climate Control

I have a 92 Max and the automatic climate control LCD went dead. Can you tell me how to remove the molding to get access to the climate control unit? Is it just clips holding it in place? Also, do these climate control unts just have a din-type connector which unplugs, or are they hard wired once I get the bad unit out?

thanks in advance for any help.
