I have no idea where to turn next. My 92 se wont start sometimes and I dont know why. I replaced the starter yesterday. The yellow top battery is good. But when I went out this morning the car wouldnt start, I hear the starter spinning away though. The starter connects to the flywheel right? Is something maybe wrong with the gears not meeting up. Thats what it sounds like. It does start most of the time. Could me needing a clutch keep the thing from starting? Im pushing this car to start it every coupla days. Oh ,just in case, the car does idle a little off right now. The oil is good,TB is clean, engine is clean, air filter clean,new fuel filter,new spark plugs (one of them had oil on it when I changed them). could the fact that I need a valve cover gasket be the cause??

 

Sounds like one of three things is happening 1/ broken flywheel teeth...2/ you got a bad starter{hope you kept your receipt} 3/ you have somehow installed the starter incorrectly.

 

Yeah, Every mechanic says to buy a brand new starter.I'll try that.Thanks anyway 89maxse! much love homie.
