Surging Idle

I cleaned the IACV last week. The car was surging. Especially noticeable when the car is in drive and foot off the brake just doing about 10-15 MPH the idle will go up to 1000 and down to 7-800 every few seconds. Sometimes it stays up there and the car goes faster than it should. If I put it in N it still does it but not as noticeable.
I decided to replace the IACV with one from the parts car. Problem still there so I think the IACV is fine. I checked the EGR and it seems to be functioning fine.

Replace the fuel filter. Released pressure first but the pressure seemed very high on the side going to the fuel regulator and injectors. It was squirting out really hard. Don't remember it being that bad when changing them before. Problem still there.

Checked computer. 55

When I give the car gas it runs like a champ. No hesitation. Only at little or no gas does it act this way.

Sorry so long. Thanks for the thoughts.

Not sure where to check for leak. I did the pinch the hose thing and no change. I listened for air and check the hoses near the EGR. The car will not choke right first thing in the morning when cold. Pretty strange. Thanks for the thoughts.

I've been having similar problems for a while now with idling / cold stalling issues. Last night finally made the time to replace all the vacuum hoses.

The car ran much better this morning, but it wasn't quite as cold as it has been and it was garaged last night. I'll know more in a couple of days, so I'm being careful not to be too premature in saying that the problems are all fixed. Still, though, I think the vacuum hoses made a huge difference. The idle seems to be more steady.

You might try the same thing. With the Auto Tranny, it took less than 6 ft of hose. Not sure with the Manual Tranny.

Did you replace the lines going to the charcoal canister under the battery? I might try and get some and start replacing. Thanks for the thoughts.

Those are the only ones that I did not replace...didn't have the right size at 12:00am this morning and also they were in a sleeve and not readily accessible. I trimmed off the end of the smaller hose that fit onto the pressure regulator, though, just to get rid of the hard cracked part. I wasn't happy about how it fit back on the regulator after that. It didn't seem to want to go back on as far so now that connection, in my mind, is a little iffy and I might end up replacing the whole line before I'm done.
