Alternator.....

I have a 1993 Maxima SOHC. My alternator busted, and I would like to know:

1)Good, cheap place to buy it

2)Around how much

3)How much to install it

4)What the part number is exactly

Thanks beforehand for any help!!!

edit: READ FAQ's before post. Then ask if answer not found.

1) internetautomar, Advanced auto parts, dealership, junk yard
2) 30-50 used or around 160 new
3) Pretty easy install. I did mine in about 30 minutes with no previous knowledge. Some people can do it under 20. A shop will charge you about $70.
4) Depends what brand you choose. OE (Hitachi) or Aftermarket (Bosch, etc.)

What's with everyone's alternator dying this week? This has been the 5th thread on this in the last week.

As for it taking 20-30 minutes, you got me beat by a couple of hours, still doable on a saturday morning.

Well my Hanes manual helped a little but mainly because I bought it used from a wrecked 89 around the block from my aunts house. I had the pulley and some new belts installed while I'm down there and now it was just adjust the alty and bolts and plug that sucker in.

Shouldnt take a couple of hours. All you have to do is remove the splash shield, three wires and three bolts. And there is nothing blocking you to make it hard.
