Hey everyone~
I just wanted to let y'all know that I ordered a roof-mount lighting system just like the ones that county cops around here have..... when it comes in I will get some pics..... it's not illegal to have that on your car,,,,as long as you do'nt turn it on...ahahahah. like that won't happen. It's gonna be awesome.... Later!!!!
Oh....one more thing...my friend sent me the link to a site that sells Altezzas for our 3rd-gen car.... they go for around $288.

the only question that comes to mind here is WHY?! No offense man, but that's just dumb. attracting attention to your car is one thing, but looking like an idiot while doing it is another.

3rd gen altezzas? i didn't know there was such an item. and why would you want to put cop lights on your maxima? just doesn't make any sense. i could see if you was a security guard and you used your car to patrol the area but for show purposes, its hella ugly. you want the same kind of effect then go with stobes or do the hidden in the grill, on the side view mirror, and in the back window lights like what they have in all the un marked police cars but then again, its your car, your personal taste so enjoy and more power to you. but i think you are smoking crack, no offense.

Re: my thought's exactly

Your idea make absolutely no sense just from a performance perspective. That light bar will add weight to your car(slower accleration) and drag. (lower top end)

Food For Thought

Have you ever noticed many Sports Cars that are patrol cars do not have light bars on them? The reason is that the light bars add drag to the cars and will slow them down. Another thing to think about is cost.

These bars are far from cheap. For example, a Whelen Edge with takedown lights will run you at least $750 or more. That does not include installation. Another issue is whether the stock alternator can handle the drain. Those lights are part of the reason why police vehicles have upgraded alternators.

But if you are insistent on having a light bar on your car, what kind are you getting? Are you looking at a Whelen Edge? Federal Signal Jet Strobe? Federal Signal Vectra? Code 3? Federal Signal Streethawk? Federal Signal JetSonic?
Excalibur?

Then you have to look at State Codes. I know that in IL, you can get nailed if your light bar is red or blue or has either color in combination unless you are fire/police/ambulance.

(I always knew being related to cops had its fringe benefits. )

It's just our opinions, and we're trying to let you know, don't put anything with the red/blue combo on your car, it's just asking for trouble.

Didn't you say that you already ordered teh bar too? If not, I'd say you could spend the extra money elsewhere and get a nice set up.

OK, I can't stand to let this go on any longer. The link he posted is to a god damn cash register product line. "Altezza" means height in Italian. Hate to see fellow Max drivers get humiliated...

Technically, I was not being negative, but factual. I know SS4s (Mustangs) with light bars are slowed down to 135 whereas "slick" SS4s run around 140-145 because of the added drag.

Altezza=Lexus IS 300. Altezza is the Japanese name for the IS 300. Aristo is the Japanese name for the GS300/400.

To buy "Altezzas" for your car means to buy the taillights that the Altezza (IS300) comes stock with. Everybody likes to make their car look like it's something it's not ;p

Altezza taillights are like these:

Hey dude Its your car you do what you want to. Dont worry about what everyone else says. As far as the altezzas does anyone have the pics of them. I went to the page and I was lost. If someone can translate it that would be nice.

police lights rock

Dude, if u want to put police lights on your car -- holy crap do it man! That would be so freaking fun to be cruising around, find some moron that ****es u off, and watch them crap a brick when u start chasing them with your police lights on!

I luv the idea -- and as far as people complaining about performance, I dont think that is what u r going for with the police lights.

Although I would never do it, post some stories about it when u get the lights on.
