Not available as NEW.
I got a quote from a reputable tranny shop 2 weeks ago for my 93GXE Automatic and they wanted min 1900.00 to do a rebuild and said that a max job would run 3000.00 depending on what was messed up.

I knew it was slipping a little, then on the way home one afternoon, the light turned yellow, so I let off the gas and was coasting, then the car jerked a little, then the tranny sounded like someone had placed a pack of baseball cards in the spokes of a bicycle at 30mph...the individual clicks got distinct the slower I got.

I drove the car the rest of the way home, then drove it to a dealership the next morning and traded it in on a new ride.

Good luck.
Greg

There are several threads on this if you go digging.

Rebuilt transmissions from Nissan are around $1400, dealer cost. So figure close to double that for profit + labor to install. If you can find someone, who really knew what they were doing, the could get a rebuild kit from Level 10 (just the parts that need to be replaced), and have them rebuild it. It may not be much cheaper, because you have to add in the labor or the rebuild to the labor of pulling/replacing the transmission. Fewer and fewer places are doing the actual rebuilds. Getting your transmission rebult, when it's begining to go is the best possible thing.

I have a VG (GXE). That part number was on the outside of the box, but the cooler is the 5 3/4" x 11" one. I mounted it (looking at the front of the car) in front of the condensor, in the lower right hand corner. It will just fit between the cooler loop for the P/S and the condensor. The only painful part was putting on the nylon straps that hold the cooler, because you have to work between the radiator and condensor. Both of which are like cheese graters - tough on the knuckles. Removing the the top radiator mounts, grill and lower engine shroud are easy enough. Make sure you get an extra hose clamp to replace the original one on the feed line to the radiator (at the radiator). The wire style clamps deform the hoses, over time, and they begin to weep.

Call "International Parts" @ 1-800-825-3121. A rebuilt 5sp tranny for my car three years ago cost me about $1,100. It's doing fine for now. Give them a call, they my charge a core of a couple hundred and shipping the old tranny back will run about $45 tops, I always use R&L/ Gator trucking. The only other option is this.....
