VE timming chain issue after VTC rebuild, Need some help guys

nope, I'm pretty sure the TSB on cleaning the gallies was for when the heads are off, where jets are pulled out. In the past i've ran motor flush's, so I hope any buildup was forced out, or just got stuck in the old tensioners. Also I tested the oil pressure a while back and it was high. Glad we don't get any oil pump failures in the VE
The engine is definitly functioning better with the new VTC springs, off the line I'm getting some nice tire spin.

thanks, hey your lucky being in FL. I think I picked up a slight head cold while working in the garage.
Another tip, while the valve covers and timming covers are off, and before making your timming marks, rotate the engine so that the tensioners pop out. You especially need to do this if you plan on replacing the tensioner, otherwise trying to remove the tensioner in the compressed state is almost impossible, well I got it out and later realized how rediculous it was.
Mizeree_X, I think they make special tools to clean them, also there is a 'jet' that needs to be extracted prior to cleaning the galley.

FL is nice in the winter. I can work on my car in 60-80 degree weather. But, I can't drag race my car in 40 degree weather like I could in NC sometimes. It just doesn't get 40 degrees often in South FL.

Line them up according to the timing marks. If you don't have a factory fsm, get one

nothing that I have found for the VE. Just having a general understanding of how valvetrains work aswell as motors in general and cams helps alot. But the FSM is very vague and your only real reference is a picture that is not 100% accurate

It's accurate as far as I know. If you think the Nissan FSM is bad, then you must think the Chiltons and Haynes is terrible. The factory FSM is actually pretty good. It's not vague. Might be confusing but the info is there.

The FSM has lots of very very good info, I just feel that it is lacking in the valvetrain timing department thats all. (then again maybe I'm spoiled with the plethora of info with SBM/SBF/etc's).

On the TSB for the VTC's the first blow up diagram is wayyyy off scale, the diagram for the body should be like 20% bigger, the way its shown it would never fit together. But all-in-all I'd say the FSM is adequate.

One thing you have to understand about service manuals is that certain manuals are design for certain individual. Haynes/Chilton are designed for your avg. at home DIY's while the FSM are designed for technician. When someone uses a FSM it's assumed that person has the ability to understand certain things without the FSM saying so, like taking out the rear seat. I just pick-up a Haynes for my S-10 truck and they really break it down and give actual hands on pics. In some of the pics you can see the grease under the guys nails, now how actual is that? The Haynes also gives you little tricks of the trade how to take apart certain things, while the FSM will only suggest using a "Nissan" tool to take apart things.
