i'm such a noob to maximas. i have a 92 GXE i got for the winter and today i found out that the ****in back seat doesnt fold down. i needed to get an Xmas tree i picked out and when i went outside to put the fn tree in my trunk i found out that the back seat doesnt fold down

anyway, this got me thinking. where can i get one of those roof racks for my car? what do you think of the idea of having a roof rack on the maxima? this is just a beater, i could care less about looks.

Mizeree_X has some kind of ski rack/roof rack system on his car. I think it's a Yakima. You would have to ask him about it.

Yeah, I have a Yakima rack system I bought used off the org. It uses the Q towers and Q clips to secure itself to the car. I like it, I heard Thule is better but for the price I got it all for, I'm not complaining. Here are some pics:

Sounds like New Zealand is the only country in the world to have fold down rear seats as standard in every gen3 Maxima. Nissan NZ also offered a roof rack in their accessories list which going by the pic doesnt detract from the appearance of the car. They actually look similar to Mizeree X's Maxima, but were Rola brand.

I also got my rack used from the .org. Its a Thule- the feet and bars are universal items (if you can find them used), the fit-kit for the Maxima will run ~$50 IIRC. Check Thule's site for more info.

Nice rack Mike

I work in a bike shop and have installed a few thule racks and tons of yakimas. I have a yakima rack on mine, and have been very pleased. Can't really go wrong with either one. Thule's Swedish, and Yakima's American (Calif) if that matters to you. I slightly prefer the way the Yakima bike mounts work, and also the fact that it's easier to find a Yakima dealer with a good inventory than it is to find Thule, if I ever need parts for it.

Those 3rdgens were still in there prime back then...a '94 Max was only a decade young in '04!! The roof racks look good, especially with the ski sets up there.
