more money. more problems!!!

okay. a couple of weeks ago i had a very wet floor. it had that night before. i dont know if it was from the rain or heater core.my heat used to almost run me out the car. Now its mediocre and not blowing as hot as it used to., and the vents are acting gay. the farthest two vent to the left are blowing a little heat. the third vent from the left is in between heat and air. now the one closest to the passenger door is a whole different story. its blowing like i have the a/c on extremely cold. but when i checked the wet floor for antifreeze, I found no trace, because I was wondering if it was the heater core. can someone tell me whats really going on?and yes that with the heat all the way to the right.

check to make sure your not low on antifreeze maybe it all leeked out and thats why its not leaking and you have no heat

also when mine heater core went i had a very strong anitfreeze smeel in my car so you should know if when your floor was wet if it was just water or coolent

The drain tube for the evaparator box may be clogged. Turn on the car(but don't start it) and turn the blower on high. Then under the hood on the lower pass. side firewall will be a black hose sticking out. Put your hand down there and see if you feel air coming out. If you do it is not clogged.
The no heat may be because the water in the evap box is effecting the heater performance, or as stated it may be low on coolant. Does your temp gauge still read normally??

yeah the temp guage is a little under half. do you necessarily have to be losing coolant to be low or is it normal to have to add too it every once in the while. i going to check for leaks. also is the petcock on the radiator supposed to be turned clockwise or counter clockwise for it to be closed. please help because starting to be cold as heck in that car.

The petcock is supposed to be turned counter clockwise to close it. Also, when I first bought my car my car almost had the same problem. Not the leaking, but the heat would not work. Turns out it was some control module, Craig might be able to help you more on that.

check your fresh air vent, that'll bring the heat WAY down...probably not the cause, but it could contribute...

The petcock goes clockwise to tighten. (lefty loosey, righty tightey)

It is normal to have to add coolant sometimes, Like twice a year or so.

check the vacuum hoses going into the heater valve (middle top of the firewall). turn on the heat full blast, from the driver's side, remove the top hose and replace, then remove teh bottom then replace. you can find if there are leaks by following the hose to the rear of the intake manifold. this seemed to be my problem.

also you can check your heater core hoses located on the firewall behind the engine. there are two hoses (access it from the passenger side). check if they are both hot. if not, your core is not circulating the coolant.

OK EVERYONE FIND HIS POST AND LOOK TO THE LEFT... NOTICE THE FOLLOWING

"NEWBIE"

and apparently a real, REAL newbie. I'm sorry to say there maxmiles but you are wrong. And anyone who has done any mechanic work, like me for the past 5 years, knows that the petcock on a radiator is designed backwards from normal.

Oh it's a right handed thread, so under normal circumstances it would be as you said. But they designed them to seal and close when turned counter clockwise.

And if you don't believe me, or anyone else that will back me up, go out and try loosening one to the left. Then I'll be waiting for your apology when you come back after having to have the petcock fixed. Which also involves having to drain the coolant.

guess what org my heat is back on the map. its blowing extremely hot. almost hotter than what it was before. I ended needing a lot of coolant. i was pouring coolant into the radiator for while. and I also put some in the reserve tank because it was empty. It blows heat really well. I thought I needed a new heater core or something. also for it to have been that low, why didnt it overheat or it doesnt need that much coolant to cool. it must have been low since january(when I first got it) Thanks alot because I didnt know the coolant had to do with the heat inside the car
