Got The Cup-Holder...

Hey, so i went to a salvageyard, got my coveted push-tray/cupholder from a wrecked 92se, and nearly diedin the process. It was fun! The car i got it from was on top of another car, and a downward slant. It had been WRECKED. Whoever did it went all out.

Anyway, when i got the peice, i actually pulled it off the floorboard... So i didn't see any mounting brackets or what not.

How do I mount this guy in the lower din? There is only the box, no brackets or anything i have. Just too screw holes on each side, with rasied tabs that look like the ends of an x. In other words--
\ /
/ \
with a screw whole in the middle. So does anyone know how i can get this done? Please let me know. Thanks!

you're gonna need the bracket for the radio/cupholder to mount it, go back to the junkers and get one

Forgive my crude drawing but it looks something like this....

It's metal, I belive that is the bracket someone was talking about.

By the way, look for the early 90's taurus/saab cup holders instead they are way better than the stock ones

Due to the image size I'll make a link to where you can see them...

thanks guys, i was too lazy to take apart the console. The link that DMad8724 posted looks a lot better.

I believe it is around that year, it's a taurus, but saab has something like that too, same year IIRC. I got it off ebay, but I belive you can get it cheaper at your local junkyard.

All else fails.....

Bah. Pete..... unbelievable. I followed up on this thread too late. The other one is $25, too. Well, Maxmus, thanks for the info. That is too cool. It looks great in your max.

Has anyone bought one from a junkyard? Are they running about the same in price - $20?

I bought the nissan cupholder/pocket from a yard for 5 bucks. It is the same price for a taurus at my salvage yard. I looked into it, but im actually more interested in the deeper tray part than the cupholder so i went with the stock maxima one! Hope it helps.

Remember: Junkyards are usually cheaper, but their is more work involved. That is, cleaning whatever you bought. Haha.

another thing you can do with it...when i got mine from the junkyard, it was VERRRY nasty, the tape that covers the bottom of the tray was all dirty and wet and everything else, I got a razor blade and got all of that out of there, and went to the store and threw in some blrand new grip tape, looked brand new, except now my new griptape has gotten a little gross

So i konw this is dumb, but where did you find the 'grip tape' or wahtever it is. Autozone, wal-mart, sears, and o'rielly don't have any clues as to where to find the stuff. You'd think it woudl be easy to fnd/ make suggestions for but i've got nothing! Thanks much.

Kev
