power light has mind of its own

well, if some of you remember from a couple of my post last week, i had problems with my idle after installing new valve cover gaskets....for the most part, i've fixed the idle problem but i'm still leaking oil so i have taken it to a mechanic to get it repaired since i'm stumped!!! after taking it to the mechanic, he placed an ultraviolet dye in my oil system and told me to drive the car 100 miles so i can work it throughout the system. i'm like okay and start driving my car....when i punch the gas, the car seems to just start surging and goes no where!! what i mean by surging is the rpms will fluctuate between 1500 and 2500 rpms back and forth and no speed is obtained....i can have the pedal to the floor and i'm going nowhere. when this happens, i notice that the power light on the power and comfort switch starts to blink....i remember seeing someone post something about this a looooong time ago, but i forget what was the cause. Does anyone know what might be causing this and how i can fix it??

It sounds like the car is in fail safe mode(won't go over 2500 rpm).
It is usually a major sensor that is inop, like a MAFS. Check to see if all the sensors are plugged in.

the car will go over 2500 rpms....i can get my car up to 65-70 mph...its just when i punch the gas...it starts to rev up and down and won't increase the speed at all...but i will check the MAF and sensor!!
