spark plug gap

spark plug gap

hey i got new spark plugs but i have no clue what to set the gap at......

pretty sure its .038 (or .039). Most plugs are gapped higher, and should be gapped down.

I think it's in the manual as well, between .38-.43ish IIRC.

the spec is there because the gap gets larger as the plugs get older.
so if you start with a larger gap, it will get too large and potentially cause running problems.

I bought new spark plugs recently, at the parts store, I was like "I want copper plugs, the Autolites", she comes back with double plats., I'm like "I asked for copper's", she's like "well thats what the OEM are", I'm like "gimme the damn copper's". OMG they're friggen idiots. that was pep boys.

Same thing happend for my uncles van, "give me double plats", they guy comes back with sing. plats., I'm like "those are not double plats!". Idiots!! that was autozone.

For my car I want performance (power not longevity). My uncle needs something thats going to last long since he's lazy.
