Trunk Light Problem

Alright, I researched alldata and all it gave me was electrical diagrams. Internetautomart sent me the FSM and I don't understand where to look for it. But here is my problem.

After I pop my trunk open (when it isn't open all the way up, just barely open), my trunk light works, but when I open it all the way the light shuts off. I just noticed this problem today, and I don't know why it's acting up.

Internetautomart said that there might be a mercury switch on the trunk, but when I went out and looked at it, I couldn't find it.

Has anybody had this problem before?

Thanks for reading.

I don't believe they utilized a mercury switch on the trunks. I was under the impression the switch was built into the deck lid mechanism and came on when opened. It sounds to me like a short. Check the wire running from the deck lid down the left side hinge to make sure it's not getting snagged or is damaged. Look for where the wire is moving, as it should be attached to the hinge until it connects to the harness near the rear speakers.

Alright, I tugged the wires, that were on the trunk, and the light started to flicker on and off. Then I guess I pulled too hard, and the light is completely off now. So I guess it's time to take apart the back seats and see whats going on. Do you by happen to know where those wires actually plug in where it could be lose?

Thanks in advance.

That little light isnt worth much.... on the left side where there is a flat spot I mounted a spare fog light with an on/off switch, VOILA! 55/85W of lighting power.

See my cardomain site for pics.

I like that light, cuz i hooked a neon in the car so I know when the trunk is open and when it's closed.

Alright, both the brown and the pink wire is getting power. where does it hook up? I don't understand why it flickered when I pulled the wire, I can't find out where it gets power from. Help.!
