I dunno... I've been running Castrol Syntec in my engine since I had it put in. And it wasn't new OR rebuilt. But it DID have roughly 90k miles on it when I got it three years ago. Anyway, I've had absolutely NO engine-related problems with my car. The only problem I had was a recent trip to the Nissan dealership for an oil change (mainly cuz it's too darned cold to do it myself).
Anyway, these clowns put in (and admitted to it) 'regular 5w40 oil. My car was running sluggish after that, and that's when I noticed on the little sticker they put in the window their error.
Long story short, I got my oil change re-done for free, got an offer to get my next oil change for free, AND got a refund for the oil change I paid for - plus, my car is running fine again (well, I still need a new injector - but that's a topic for another thread).

Yes it doesn't matter how many miles your motor has on it. You can run synthetic oil in it. No matter what size motor you have. And don't get BAM-BUL-SULED into the "new" sales gimmick of HIGH MILES OIL. Lubrication is my business. If you need more info just ask.
